'Don't You Mess It Up' is not just another song about love or breakups. Instead it explores the idea of leaving your comfort zone to expand horizons and chase dreams. Nathan often creates characters within the song narrative to imprint his own experiences upon. The lyrics become a version of himself but not always autobiographical in nature. Nathan brings together a range of Americana-style musical flavours into a unique sonic signature.
